O umetnikovem delu je tako kurator Hitoshi Nakano zapisal: „It would seem that for Shingo, travelling means more than simply a change in temporal and spatial distance. The act of traveling per se is his experiment, and perhaps too the manifestation of a kind of indesicion, a sense of being lost. He requires distance in space and time, a journey, to sustain his authonomy.“
Umetnik bo v času rezidenčnega bivanja raziskoval slovansko mitologijo, rezidenca pa je produkt sodelovanja mednarodne rezidenčne platforme GuestRoomMaribor in NODE - Center for Curatorial Studies iz Berlina, Nemčija.

Contemporary visual artist Shingo Yoshida, who will be in Maribor between July and August in his work stems from traveling and research of the spatial context in which he currently stays - especially its hidden, effaced, forgotten and historical components. About the artist's approach curator Hitoshi Nakano wrote: „It would seem that for Shingo, travelling means more than simply a change in temporal and spatial distance. The act of traveling per se is his experiment, and perhaps too the manifestation of a kind of indesicion, a sense of being lost. He requires distance in space and time, a journey, to sustain his authonomy.“
During his residency stay – cooperation between GuestRoomMaribor and NODE - Center for Curatorial Studies in Berlin, Germany - artist will be doing a reseacsh on Slavic mythology.
Shingo Yoshida (b. Tokyo, 1974) considers the world his studio and therefore a place of constant creation.Travelling around the globe, he finds myths, legends, people and places which are easily over looked and matches them to his creative micro world. With an aesthetic gaze and the most fanciful understanding of life. Yoshida enacts as if he was playing Hide and Seek in the world alone: while hiding himself he seeks the hidden.
Yoshida received his MA with highest honors from Ecole Nationale Supérieure d’Art, Villa Arson in Nice France in 2004 and was the 2007 recipient Post-graduate diploma - Program La Seine of Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris.
