V Mariboru tokrat gostuje na Islandiji živeča hrvaška umetnica Martina Kartelo. Kot rezidenčna umetnica bo v okviru programa GuestRoomMaribor raziskovala pojav revščine v Sloveniji in na Hrvaškem. Vabljeni na predstavitev njene pretekle produkcije in načrtovanega projekta, ki se bo odvila v sredo, 13. 4. 2016, ob 19:00, v Galeriji K18.

Martina Kartelo je gledališka igralka in performerka, ki v zadnjem času ustvarja neodvisne projekte, temelječe na sodobnih družbenih vprašanjih. V času rezidence v Mariboru se bo ukvarjala z vprašanjem revščine: kako nastaja, kaj jo pospešuje, kako revne in revščino dojema kapitalistična družba in mediji. Področje bo raziskovala preko študija statistike, kot tudi preko dela na terenu in stika z ljudmi, ki so se znašli na robu preživetja. Predviden končni performans, naslovljen “Pogreb za revne”, bo vključeval teater, performans in glasbo ter bo izveden v javnem prostoru. Projekt je tretji in zadnji del trilogije umetniškega raziskovanja kapitalizma in konzumerizma.

Umetnica išče prostovoljce, entuziaste in motivirane sociologe, ki se bi bili pripravljeni vključiti v proces raziskovanja ali izvedbo performansa.

This time GuestRoomMaribor is hostig Martina Kartelo, a Croatian artist based in Iceland. In Maribor she will research the phenomenon of poverty in Slovenia and in Croatia. You are cordially invited to the presentation of her previous production and planned project on Wednesday, 13. 4. 2016, at 7pm to K18 Gallery.

Martina Kartelo is theatre actress and performer who is lately working within freelance projects which focus on contemporary social issues. During this residency in Maribor she will explore the issue of poverty, how it appears, what makes it grow as well as how poor and poverty are perceived by capitalistic society and media. She will explore the issue through facts, meeting with people who are at the margin of poverty, talking with them, visiting areas which are being considered to be poor, read articles and explore the issue on the social media. All this will lead to final performance which is titled "Funeral for Poor" and will involve theatre, performance and music. This project is third and final part of the seria of the artistc exploration of capitalism and consumerism.
Artist is looking for volunteers / art enthusiasts/motivated sociologists who would involve themselves to help inside of research and inside of final performance
